My Story

Who is Matilda Egere-Cooper? Living proof that big dreams can become a reality.

From journalism to coaching, my journey is about ambition, resilience, and helping women thrive.

Where it all started

Over 20 years ago, I arrived in London with a pen, a pad, and a dream—to become a music journalist. I didn’t have connections, but I had a vision. Fast forward to earning a journalism degree, landing bylines in top publications, and meeting and interviewing icons like  Pharrell Williams, Idris Elba, Stevie Wonder, and Alicia Keys—I’d made it.

I also travelled the world, attended unforgettable gigs, and even won awards for my work. But what I didn’t realise back then was that every milestone was preparing me for something bigger—helping women like me carve out their own paths, trust their instincts, and live out their gifts and talents.

Fly Girl Collective, a wellness platform in London

Creating Space for Women Like Me

In 2018, I founded Fly Girl Collective—one of London’s first wellness and running community for women of colour. Back then, representation in wellness spaces was shockingly low, and I wanted to change that.

What started as a way to increase visibility soon became something deeper:

  • A space for women to build confidence through movement
  • A network where sisterhood, wellness, and personal growth come together
  • A platform that caught the attention of brands like lululemon, BBC, Vogue and New Balance

Through this journey, I learned that true transformation isn’t just about fitness—it’s about mindset, consistency, and learning how to move with intention. That’s what coaching is all about.

A Career of Twists & Turns That Led Me Here

My career has taken some wild twists and turns—from journalism to leading content and creative teams at global brands, running a photography school supported by the Prince’s Trust, and even serving on juries at Cannes Lions.

I've been the only one in the room, battled imposter syndrome, and figured out how to balance ambition with well-being. And after completing 50+ races, including five marathons, I know firsthand what it takes to push past mental barriers and stay committed to growth—in fitness, career, and life.

Now, I bring all of that experience into coaching—helping ambitious women navigate their own journeys with clarity, confidence, and intention.

Helping You Thrive on Your Terms

I’ve been where you are—figuring out what’s next, how to stay consistent, and how to align your goals with who you’re becoming.

Whether you’re ready to make bold moves, redefine success on your own terms, or build habits that actually stick, I’m here to guide you.

How I coach

Pragmatic

My coaching style is rooted in practicality and results. We’ll focus on small, actionable steps that fit seamlessly into your lifestyle, building momentum toward your goals without the overwhelm.

Methodical

Structure and strategy is how I roll because winging it doesn’t cut it when you’re aiming for big things. I also use proven psychological frameworks and tools to tackle challenges step by step, breaking goals into manageable pieces and using tools to track progress. I’ll keep you on course and fully supported throughout the journey.

Empathetic

I understand how life’s curveballs can leave you feeling stuck or uncertain about your next move. That’s why I create a safe, judgment-free space where we can unpack your challenges and explore your goals together. Whether you’re lost, overwhelmed, or ready to leap forward, I’ll help you feel seen, understood, and confident as you take your next steps.
